Elephant ‘dung’ earrings
Yep, you have read it correctly. These orange paper beads are made from elephant dung. Found these beads in the elephant sanctuary in Sri Lanka. In short, they look after elephants that are abandoned, take them to the river twice a day so the elephants can bathe. The elephant dung gets collected and then sterilised by boiling it for a very long time, then the dung is made into paper and coloured with natural herbs and flowers. These orange earrings are dyed with natural turmeric. And all the proceeds go straight back into looking after the elephants. I’ve added black Swarovski crystals to compliment the orange dung beads.
